Welcome to Reception; Class 1 and Class 2.

Reading books can be sent in to be changed on Mondays and Fridays.

Our PE day is Monday and Games are on Thursday, please send your child in their PE kit on both of these days.

Here at Leigh Sacred Heart, we aim to start your child’s journey through education in an exciting way, to encourage and develop your child’s love of learning.

We are updating our indoor and outdoor provision as the year goes on and we change our indoor areas as we cover different topics. We do this to ensure your child is provided with lots of opportunities through play-based learning.

We follow Sounds-Write for phonics, to help your child read and write and White Rose Maths to develop your child’s Mathematics knowledge.

We love helping your children grow and sharing their journey with you.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to message one of us on Dojo.

At Sacred Heart we use Sounds Write to teach children phonics, these skills support children to be able to read and spell. Parents can access a short free course to help parents understand what they can do help their child read and write.

Help your child to read and write

Our free course for parents and carers will help you get your child off to a good start!

The course will show you how to:

  • help your child take their first steps in reading and spelling
  • understand how to help your child build, write and read simple cvc (consonant, vowel, consonant) words
  • understand how to correct your child when they make a mistake in their reading or writing simple words
  • have a basic understanding of how phonics works
