Barriers to children

In- school barriers

  • Speech, language and communication skills which impact on phonics learning.
  • Reminder of essential requirements to learn
  • Special Educational Needs - developmental delays and autism.
  • Some children start school with very little English.

          External barriers

  • Attendance and support.
  • Low self-esteem.

Intended outcomes of the money spent. These will be reviewed termly at the Pupil Progress Meetings – 

Teacher/HLTA support in Reception

  • Improved outcomes for the children in reading, writing and maths.
  • To improve outcomes in identified areas
  • Catch up sessions where a gap in the child’s knowledge is identified.

 

Teacher/HLTA interventions in KS1

  • Improved outcomes for the children in reading, writing and maths.
  • Increased confidence in phonics to enable children to meet the standard.
  • Increased confidence working towards meeting the standard at the end of KS1.
  • Catch up sessions where a gap in the child’s knowledge is identified.

 

Teacher support and interventions in KS1

  • Improved outcomes for the children in reading, writing and maths.
  • Increased confidence in phonics to enable children to meet the standard.

Learning Mentor nurture and intervention support and transition work

  • Specific group work or 1 to 1 sessions to further develop the children’s emotional intelligence.
  • Group interventions to improve self-esteem and social skills.
  • 1 to 1 sessions to discuss any barriers the child may have to their learning.

ICT Equipment

  • To be able to provide equipment for loan to those children that need it, when working at home.
