Dear Parents/Carers,

Well done to all the children who completed their summer activity booklets – the Governors have chosen the winners – well done to all the children who won a bike. If your child completed their booklet and did not win a bike they will have been given a ticket for a free toy from the toy sale we have in school each Thursday dinner time (thank you to the Friends of Sacred Heart for arranging this).

Father Kieran has arranged a Mass of Welcome for all children, staff and parents on Thursday 3rd October at 9.15am in Sacred Heart Church – everyone is welcome.

Father Kieran will be starting the Sacramental Programme for all children in Year 4 (and any children in Year 5 and 6) who wish to make their Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in the New Year. He will send more details in January 2020.

Class 11 will be leading our next RE assembly on the topic of Belonging on Tuesday 8th September at 9.10am in the school hall – everyone is welcome.

The Friends of Sacred Heart have arranged a Bag2school collection - please drop you bag off at 9am on Wednesday 9th October. Many thanks.

Please note the May Day Bank Holiday – Monday 4th May 2020 has now been moved to Friday 8th May 2020.

A number of parents have reported that their child has head lice – please can we all be vigilant in order to irradiate this problem?

Families in the school are involved with the Parkrun which takes place each Sunday at 9am behind Leigh Sports Village. Everyone is welcome to join in for more information (why not consider being a volunteer?) see the posters in the office window or register at parkrun.com.

“Attention Parents! GREAT NEWS Mr Monckton & his colleagues at Premier Sport will be hosting our Multi Sports Activity Camps this October Half Term. After the excitement and success of last year we really are looking forward to keeping active every half term! But beware of our ‘Freaky Friday Party Day’ with a Spooktacular Halloween Theme! To book your place please visit premier-education.com using the discount codes JG30 for a full week or JG20 for any other days.”

After School Clubs – Gymnastics Club on Wednesday’s 3.30pm-4.30pm start this week £3 a session – please book online via the website below and send money into school with your child.

Governors have asked that we introduce a reward each Friday for the children in Classes 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. If they have their reading record/planner signed each day to show that they have read for 20 minutes their name will be put in a draw. Each Friday a child’s name will be drawn out and they can choose a book as a prize. Well done to Taylor who won on Friday 27th September.

We now have a tradition within the school that when it is a child’s birthday they are invited to come into school for the day in their own clothes. If their birthday is in the holidays or at the weekend they are invited to come into school on the day following the holiday or weekend in their own clothes. Many thanks.

Polite notice – I am unable to authorise any holidays in term time for children, the Governors of the school are concerned by our attendance figures. The school doors open at 8.45am for children in classes 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Children in classes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are welcomed into class at 8.55am Registers are taken at approximately 9am – any child arriving after this will be given a late mark.

Thank you for your continued support,

 Mrs H. Ahmed
