2DIY – Pairs game.

Creativity

2Animate/2Paint a picture (Wheel) Life cycle.

Programming

Logo/Scratch – Using code to manipulate shapes and figures.

Productivity

Pictograph – Create survey/Make graph and analyse work.

Year 2

Communication/Collaboration –

Week

Plan – log on independently - Make a poster while learning to use PowerPoint /Save work /Find work  Subject of poster is 'Internet Safety'.

1

Watch video

·         Discuss safety on the internet and reasons why you should not click on advertisements.

·          Discuss the advantages and dangers of using the internet.

·         Write key words on board.

·         Make posters to correspond to safety and none safety points.

2

See what children remember about word and explain that PowerPoint has a lot of the same elements, such as font/resize/WordArt/Insert/ Text box/ Bold/ Italic/ Underline/ Colour of pen/

See what they remember about the keyboard and how to get or do specific things such as - return key or shift key, delete, undo and  how to get capital letters without using caps lock.

This week set out foundation for poster.  Draw one rectangle that only goes across half the page, recolour, then copy and paste another.  Add text - choose font and font colour, make it bold and resize it to 18.  Type in one rectangle 3 points from last week’s list, then type another 3 in the other rectangle.

3

Use Paint and draw a picture to match the their poster /save in class folder/

4

Insert last week’s picture.

Using WordArt insert words to go down the sides of their poster, show how to rotate words.

5

Add a full background colour/Explain that the information needs to stand out from the background.  Add borders and change colours to rectangles.

6

Tidy-up/check their own spellings, using spell-checker/Show some of the children’s work on whiteboard.

Resources

Word/PC/Internet/PowerPoint/Worksheet/Whiteboard/Plans

Vocabulary

Outcome / effect / result / plan / Organization / Design / research / investigation / study / understanding / outline / copy & paste/compare/comparison/Stand-out/organise/

Aim

Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies

Year 2

Networking  - Branching Database

Week

Plan – Make a chart using directive questions. (Yes or No).

1

Demonstration how this program works, using open questions.  Choose 4 pictures to give them a taste of what to do but don’t save.

2

Choose 6 pictures then separate them with directive questions.  Use picture from a folder already created.

3

Choose a different category but this time the children are finding their own pictures. Create a folder and show the children how to find and save pictures from the internet, (Teacher chooses category).

4

Import 8 pictures (Using pictures the children found last week) create database as before.

5

Finish last week’s work.  Then working in pairs see if they can guess the animals or flowers (Depending on subject chosen). Show some on the whiteboard

Resources

Clipart / Internet images / Branching database /

Vocabulary

Branch / Database / Connections / Separate / Differences / Variety / Folders / Images / input/output

Aim

Recognise common uses of information technology beyond school

Year 2

Computational Thinking – 2DIY Pairs Game

Week

Plan - Make a game, include instructions, Debug.

1

Show how the game works.  Explain basic’s i.e. corresponding squares must both be in the highlighted area. Make a colour match game using 8 cards.

2

Recap/ See who remembers anything from week 1.  Make an harder pairs game this time import pictures and use 12 cards

3

Recap again/ Make a game using numbers, show children how to size and align text. Join question and answer (Sums).

4

Finish last week’s work. Then make their own game, using 18 cards, this time include instructions, timer and sound.

5

Continue with their own game.  Check their own game and debug problems. Play other children’s games and give them a rating.

6

Recap & view games – upload some onto school web.

Resources

Computer program 2DIY Pairing game or Purplemash pairing game / School website / Whiteboard /

Vocabulary

Pairing / Keys / Keyboard / Select / Backspace / Spacebar / Save / Retrieve / Enter / Delete / Drag and drop / icons / Problem solve / analytical skills (ability to visualize).

Aim

Create and debug simple programs

Level 1 and 2 Games

Level 3 Games

Year 2

Creativity –

Week

Plan – Make a life cycle wheel then transfer this idea into an animation – Start with frog

1

Talk about life cycles, start with frog. Children Learn how to add an additional column.  Then draw this cycle into a wheel.

2

Using last week’s wheel draw an animation. If finish start Butterfly or Human

3

Finish animations

4

Start a new animation but this time show children how to drag and drop and then alter image.

5

Continue last week’s animation.

6

Insert an image and change something on this image use drag & drop, to animate.

Vocabulary

Upload / Changes / Difference / Before and after / Evaluate / life cycles / Analyse / Modify/ Plan /Drag & drop/Insert/

Aim

Use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content

Year 2

Programming – Logo/Scratch

Week

Plan – Make an interactive figure move by using different forms of code

1

Logo – Draw a square/Rectangle/Triangle/House using NXT Robot.

2

Logo – Draw a square/Rectangle/Triangle/House using Logo

3

Scratch – Draw a character, copy and edit

4

Get their character to ask questions using code – follow directional cards, if needed?

5

Year 2

Productivity 2-Count and 2graph

Week

Plan – Collect information to make a survey then create a pictograph. Increase the levels, over the weeks. Finish by creating a graph using excel.

1

As a class collect information to create a survey.  Use this survey to make a pictograph,  ask simple questions.

2

Repeat last week’s lesson with a different subject, ask simple questions

3

Make another survey (teacher’s subject choice) but this time the children draw their own pictures.

4

Children work in pairs to create their own survey – Plan their information first on paper then using the internet research answers. For example choose 20 flags and make a survey of amount of colours on each flag.

5

Using the information they recorded last week make a graph in excel.
