Communication/Collaboration

Year 1

Communication/Collaboration – Internet Safety  - 2Create-a-Superstory

Week

Plan – internet safety - Thinking about internet safety write a story that covers stranger danger or friendship. Add animation and sound.

1

Watch video clips ‘HECTORS WORLD’ make notes.

2

Make the title page to Story (Teachers choice) – About stranger danger.

3

Continue through chosen story and animate characters as you go.

4

Continue through chosen story and animate characters as you go.

5

Continue through chosen story and animate characters as you go.

6

Continue through chosen story and animate characters as you go, finish and show.

Resources

PC/Internet / 2Create a Superstory / Book /

Aim

Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies

Computational Thinking

Year 1

Computational Thinking – 2paint a picture and 2Music

Week

Plan  - Combine patterns to music

1/2

Children draw patterns using 3 different colour dots (can only use set colours) then keeping with the same colours make a different pattern if they finish, create a pattern using four of the set colours, repeat using same colours but different pattern (print work).

3

Talk about beats/patterns/repeating patterns in sound.  Using last week’s colour patterns  copy the same colour instruments (only on one line) into the grid, then play.  On the second line copy the second pattern, then listen to the difference.

Now start from new but this time use the four pattern and include gaps.  Listen to music if finished listen to other children’s patterns – screen shot and save.

4

Repeat week 3 but this time use different instruments – when this is done try to create their own music. See if they remember to use patterns.

5

Following worksheets create the patterns and see if they can guess the sounds. Recap and show.

Resources

2Paint / PC / Paper / Printer / Whiteboard / Worksheets / Computer programs like 2sequence or Purplemash / 2simple music toolkit.

Vocabulary

Sequence / Pattern / Connect / Copy / Paste / drag / duplicate / Recap / Repeating patterns / Retrieve / Enter/ Delete / Drag and drop / Icons / Problem solve / Beats / Bass / Instruments / Low-pitched / High-pitched / Deep tones

Aim

Create and debug simple programs

Creativity

Year 1

Creativity – Word Processing -

Week

Plan – Make a poster while learning how to use word/Save work/ Find work (Event or Internet Safety)

1

Make Title - Center/Bold/Change colour/Alter font/Underline/Resize.  Learn the relevant keys needed to achieve these goals.

2

Make a list as a class to say what is going on the poster. Children create a word box with bullet points write what’s been suggested.

3

At the bottom make another text box and add a question.

Then show the children how to add a question mark.  Colour the background of this box.  Spell check their own work. Delete mistakes and learn to undo.

4

Using WordArt add graphics to go down the sides of the poster, show how to move, rotate and format words.

5

Add pictures from a folder that has already been created. Review their own work and finish

6

Test – Give children a set piece of work and see if they remember how to change it using the lessons above.

Resources

Word/computer/whiteboard/worksheets/

Vocabulary

Buttons / Icons / Information / Text - font / pictures / sound / apps/ inserting/ uploading and downloading / purpose / design / plan / suggest / intention / underline / format / layout/

Aim

Use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content

Programming

Year 1

Programming – Bee-Bop – Easy Essentials

Week

Plan – Learn to manipulate an online robot  and debug

1

Go online https://www.bee-bot.us/emu/beebot.html Start my going to certain letters – then spell a word – next change screen.

2

Continue last week’s lesson but this time us this site https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/19685257/#fullscreen

3

Easy Essentials Draw a square – Paint pots change colours to show which pot you are going too.

4

Look at different background and work through what’s there.

5

Bee-bot on IPad.

Resources

Bee bot / computers / easy essentials/iPad/Apps / Internet

Vocabulary

Algorithms (instructions), problem solving, direction, manipulate, analytical skills (ability to visualize),

Aim

Understand what algorithms are, how they are implemented as programs on digital devices, and that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions

Productivity

Year 1

Productivity 2-Count and 2graph

Week

Plan – Create survey - make graph – Answer simple questions

1

As a class complete a survey on the whiteboard. Children make a simple graph by imputing information from board.

2

Repeat last week’s lesson using different subjects (Teacher’s choice).

3

In pairs children roll a dice 20 times and record using a tick chart, then transfer this information into a graph – Answer simple questions

4

Using the information made in week 1 on Eye colour answer questions on worksheet.

5

Continue last week’s lesson if needed

Resources

2count / 2graph / Worksheets / Paper / Pencil / Whiteboard / PC /

Vocabulary

Record / Analyse / Inputting / Graphs / Information / Outcome / Charts

Aim

Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs
